Finally the Best Mexican Restaurant Opens in Town!

The first Korean franchise of the popular Mexican restaurant chain opened in Yeouido a few months ago. It's not Taco Bell. In fact, it is the anti-Taco Bell: the tortillas and sauces are made daily from scratch and there is always something natural cooking in the open kitchen. Every ingredient is guaranteed not to come from a can or a squirt tube.

The restaurant serves up casual, healthy Mexican cuisine using only all-natural ingredients. No animal fat, artificial colors, MSG, preservatives, or microwaves. All the fresh veggies - like the avocados for the guacamole, and mangos for the fat-free house dressing - are proudly displayed in a large, glass-door refrigerator. la salsa loca even has its own farm, which is claimed to be the only place in Korea that grows fresh jalapeno peppers.

The menu, printed in both English and Korean, offers straightforward choices of soft tacos, burritos, quesadillas, fajitas and more upscale seafood dishes at reasonable prices. Most expats will find Mexican flavors here much more familiar and comforting than at most other places in Seoul for sure. No doubt! It's not well-known yet to expats partly because it recently opened, but because it is not in Itaewon area. But I see substantially increasing number of expats every time I go there. Many times, it is filled with expats specially like Friday nights.

Yeouido is the heart of Korea's financial district and it has attractions like the 63 building, National Congress, IMAX theater, Yeouido Park, and Riverside Park. la salsa loca should be a good place to visit after a nice picnic at the park in Yeoudio or on a Friday night for fresh mango or lime margarita.

The chef is from a 5-star hotel in Mexico and he seems quite popular among many customers. The restaurant has been featured in many TV cook shows and TV dramas thanks to its nice deco and food quality - deco is not so Mexican but it's clean, bright and fancy, rather. You will be very happy to find one good Mexican restaurant at last in Korea!

The website is written both in Korean and English (www.lasalsaloca.co.kr).
